Torrent Notes: In my opinion, the sound quality is excellent. And if you consider the advanced age of this recording, you may want to call it superb. But that

only applies to the first 97% of the show. The last three minutes of Set the Controls appears to be patched from another (inferior) source.

In addition to my normal click and pop elimination, I also removed a chirping sound from those last 3 minutes. This noise appears to have been

an artefact from some dehissing done long ago on this patch.

There are some technical problems during the set, it can all be heard. STCFTHOTS is cut at last, after 12:41 minutes. The keyboards don't sound very well in SOS, maybe caused by the technical problems.

There was discussion that this could be MP3 sourced but no definitive conclusion came of that. Despite the technical problems, the sound is not bad for a early 70s audience tape.

NOTE FROM WEBSITE:

Comments: A long, strange trip for this gem. It ended up in our intrepid hero's hands as the surprise diamond in a trade.

In his own words--

"The person who I received this show from was not able to provide me with any useful information. He actually told me it was from a radio show in 1967 with the songs Astronomy Domine and Green is the Colour among others. There was no artwork, just multi-colored stick on labels with the name Pink Floyd, the letters CWRU, and 1967 on them. When I inquired about the source he just said that he was glad I liked it. Further inquiries were given answers unrelated to the question or not answered at all... Either he was just reluctant to reveal anything or was just unaware of what it was he had."

Sony TC55>Handheld Sony Mic>Sony C90 Cassettes>AD600 Tascam Cassette Deck>Ensoniq Soundcard>Soundforge 4.5>Taiyo Yuden CDRs>EAC>SHN. Of special note is the "jam sessions" mid-song that seems to take place during each track. FOS gets a bit of a Beatle-esque/Abbey Road type of treatment, Set The Controls is a free for all about half way through, and is that a bow solo ala Jimmy Page during the break during One Of These Days? Careful With That Axe is full of angst and just... well, rocks! Echoes is perfect as well! Finally, we get a rare treat with Blues included for good measure.

As a result of our cleanup efforts there's great definition of the instruments and you can hear some things that I know I've never heard before in these live recordings. These surprises make this one a keeper and a welcome addition to the collection.

Technical Notes: It looks as though some serious NR was performed in the past as part of the upper end has been completely removed (from 165000 Hz -22050 Hz). Older copies in circulation reveal that this upper end was absolute garbage. Absolute garbage is a bit harsh. The upper end consisted mostly of high-end noise. Older copies in circulation are not from the same source.

NOTE:

Producers remarks:

An excellent audience recording from the Boston Gardens in Boston, MA on June 27, 1977. Taken from the master tapes and digitally remastered.

This is an excellent and incredibly airy recording. It really captures the live Animals tour very well. The atmosphere is nearly perfect, the crowd is

reasonably well behaved for a Floyd show, and the instruments come through clearly. Initially it is a little compressed sounding, but really brightens

up by the end of the first song. There is virtually no hiss to be found anywhere on this recording, it is as clean as they come. Highly recommendable to any Floyd fan.

NOTES: Torrent download. Torrent Notes: Last performance of the Animals Tour. Remastered from a hand-numbered boxed set entitled Azimuth Coodinator, part two.
Remastered by Danalog of Man of Leisure Music (MoLM), February, 2003 from an EAC clone of the original silver CDs. The original release ran too slowly, and Danalog corrected the speed, brought out a bit more bass and reduced some of the extraneous noise.
This is the show where Roger finally had enough of the huge, wild audiences of the stadium concerts. After ridiculing them with profanity, he later spits in the face one of the more unruly fans. This total estrangement between the band and the audience is what Roger claims gave him the inspiration for the Wall.

NOTES:

Man of Leisure Music (MoLM) on WRPI 91.5 FM

Broadcast Thursday, August 5th, 2004

from 8pm to 10pm

Live broadcast of the lowest generation version ever made available of the finest audience recording of the Wall ever recorded.

Pink Floyd: The Wall, Live in London

Venue: Performed at Earl's Court

Date: Wednesday, August 6th, 1980 at 8:00pm

This was the 15th 0f 31 Wall concerts, and the third night of six Earls Court Wall performances that ran from August 4th through August 9th, 1980.

The five final Wall concerts were also performed at Earls Court, running from June 13th through June 17th, 1981.

Label: Distributed by Man of Leisure Music (MoLM) www.manofleisuremusic.com, from 1st generation clones of the Master CDRs, first

broadcast live on WRPI 91.5 FM 05Aug04.

Source Information: It is with a huge amount of gratitude to the taper, who reached out to MoLM and shared this true gem, in a trade for other rare PF roios.

The source audio CDs that were broadcast are 1st gen clones of the master discs.  The broadcast was recorded back onto a PC and converted to SHN using mkwACT. The original analog recording was made with a Technics single point stereo microphone covered with a black sock and a Sony stereo cassette recorder onto a TDK 120 tape.  Somehow, the taper was able to get his gear into the arena with a knapsack!

Comments from the taper: "I was seated to the left of the stage, half way back, and used a Technics Single Point Stereo Microphone with the Sony TC153SD Cassette deck, which was quite a hefty machine in those days. I used the same equipment to record the last Wall show (17Jun81), where I sat right at the back, so that recording was a bit more distant than the August 1980 show."

NOTES: Torrent download. Torrent notes:

Notes: From a "millionth generation" cassette bought in Argentina some 17 years ago by our friend Alejandro. For some reason this recording has not been heavily circulated, and is shrouded in mystery. We have no legitimate doubts as to the authenticity of this recording. It appears to be from a working set of demo tapes that were used as the actual blueprint for The Final Cut -the last album that Pink Floyd would release with Roger Waters in the lineup. In some places the difference between this and the actual release are subtle, and in other places, the differences are quite stark, changing the overall tone of some of the meanings inferred from the actual release. We won't be listing all of the differences here, so you can enjoy your own personal exploration of this work in progress.

Free Range Pigs is releasing this volume for its historical significance. While the sound quality is not "disappointing", the recording does "show it's age" in some places. We're not exactly sure, but it sounds as though this was recorded in a professional studio, so it is very likely that somewhere in this big world, a sonically superior copy exists.
